A Plan to Stay Young – the Anti-aging Diet

It is a well known fact that while we are young, we are allowed to eat whatever we want. So we eat to our hearts’ content. However, once we grow old and our body starts to function less effectively than when we were young, we have to start watching what we eat in order to stay healthy and avoid the diseases and illnesses that often plague older people. In this article we intend to introduce a plan to stay young – the anti-aging diet. This diet will help give you some idea of what you should and should not be eating in order to fight off the signs of aging and stay young longer.

The signs of aging not only include wrinkles, which are one of the more visible signs of aging, but also memory loss, decreased mental ability, and higher risk of diseases such as cardiac disease or cancer. Research has shown that there is a relationship between the type of diet and health levels as you age. In order to stay healthy for a longer period of your life, you need to eat the right foods in order to provide your body with the fuel to fight aging and its associated signs.

Certain types of food contain a substance known as phytonutrients. These phytonutrients are believed to hold the key to unlocking the secret of healthy aging and longevity. Phytonuntrients are antioxidants, and they help rid the body of ‘free radicals’, a type of particle that is extremely damaging to the body and plays a part in diseases such as cancer and Alzheimer’s. As we age, the body loses its natural ability to fight off free radicals, and we must employ the use of antioxidant supplements in order to help our body get rid of harmful free radicals so that we may stay healthy longer.

You should plan to add the following foods to your diet in order to increase the levels of antioxidants in your diet as well as to fight off the signs of aging.

You should eat fish at least twice a week, as fish is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which is a powerful anti-inflammatory that is highly beneficial for your health.

You should eat roughly 5 servings of colorful fruits and vegetables each day as they are rich in antioxidants and will are extremely helpful in the fight against aging.

You should include 2 to 3 servings of whole grains in your diet every day as they provide a large amount of phytonutrients and are also a good source of soluble fiber, which helps to lower your blood cholesterol levels.

Finally, you should remember to drink plenty of water every day as it is absolutely essential for hydration of your skin, muscles, and all the other cells of your body. Without water, dehydration would set in and your body would be unable to repair and replenish itself, and you would succumb to the signs of aging much faster than you would if you drank sufficient water each day.

Anti-Aging or Simply Healthy Living

Imagine my surprise, and disappointment, when new research proved that subjects that regularly take vitamins, minerals and a host of other herbs are still dying at the same rate as the general population. The good news is that for those individuals trying to live a healthy life style by including a daily regimen of vitamins and minerals seem to be healthier for their given age. So what does that really mean? If you happen to be 50 years of age and you are taking the path of trying to lead a healthier lifestyle by including a daily regimen of vitamins and minerals, more than likely you are optimizing your body’s metabolic state for a healthy 50 year old. This is assuming that you are taking very good quality vitamins and minerals and not one of the common multi-vitamin mineral tablets that can be found on the shelves of your local grocery. If you fit into this later category, possibly taking one of the common one a day tablet forms of vitamin, there is a very slim chance that your body is actually absorbing all of the nutrients that you really need from the single tablet that you are taking. Many of these types of tablets are simply packed too tightly for your body to be able to break down the capsule before it as passed through your body and on its way to being fish food. Then there is the question of the quality controls that are used during the processing and manufacturing of these vitamins and minerals.

By now you are probably wondering what in the above discovery made me happy. Well take heart as I haven’t told you the good news just yet. With my real interest being in living a longer healthier life full of vital energy the above information did not match up to well with my plans for my future. In the last twelve months I have made three discoveries that have had the most profound impact on my health of anything I have discovered over the past 30 years. Thanks to a friend, that I will be forever indebted to, he gave me some products to try that have improved the quality of my life and without doubt added an unknown number of years to my life. (Thanks Rex!)

Through that gift I discovered a brilliant scientist by the name of Stephen Cherniske, a book titled “The Metabolic Plan” and a company called Univera LifeSciences. Since the common throughout all of these is Stephen Cherniske let me start by telling you a little about Stephen. Please keep in mind to do him real justice I would need to write a book, so I will do my best to cover the highest of the highlights.

Stephen Cherniske, M.S. is a world-renowned research biochemist, best-selling author and pioneer in anti-aging, longevity and human performance. He directed the nations first FDA licensed clinical laboratory specializing in nutrition testing, advised the U.S. Olympic team, taught sports nutrition at the IronMan Training Camp and Endurance Sports Center and served on the faculty of the American College of Sports Medicine.

Grounded in scientific method, Stephen has an innate appreciation for and understanding of the aging process and its effect on the human body. 30 years of experience has enabled Stephen to bridge the gap between conventional and alternative health care. Elected to Who’s Who in American Professionals in 1997, Stephen Cherniske is widely recognized as an expert in nutrition and human performance. He is a frequent presenter at national and international sports medicine conferences, a patent-holder in the field of biotechnology and considered the primary architect of the Metabolic Model of Aging. Stephen Cherniske is now serving as President and Chief Science Officer of Univera LifeSciences.

What if I told you that I could hand you the map to the fountain of youth? Wait it gets better. With this map you will be able to add forty or more years to your life. Further, those years would be filled with vital energy, increased strength, stamina, immunity, reduced fat, reduced risk for cardiovascular disease, enhanced memory, increased sex drive and more……

Interested?

That map is called “The Metabolic Plan”. In roughly 300 pages Stephen Cherniske maps out, in layman’s terms, the most cutting edge breakthroughs, backed by science that will enable you to extend and improve the quality of your life. Granted it is known that 35% of our health is predetermined by genetics, but that leaves an outstanding 65% that is in our control. As Stephen so eloquently explains, we are creating 300 billion new cells every day which is an astonishing capacity for the repairing and rebuilding of our bodies. We simply need to know how to make tomorrow’s cells healthier and stronger than today’s cells.

With Stephen’s background in human performance this makes him uniquely qualified to better understand the aging process as it turns out that aging is closely related to human performance. Research has proven in numerous trials that muscle mass is a major factor in longevity. As mentioned “The Metabolic Plan” is spelled out in an easy to read format in layman’s terms. However, you don’t have to take Stephen’s word for it as there are hundreds of scientific references provided supporting the books content. So, for you guys that want to dive into the details of the science and read each of the references the door is open for you to go down that path. For those of you that want to get to the bottom line and get on with life there is a clearly laid out road map for you to be able to have a significant impact on the quality of your life.

Lastly there is Univera LifeSciences.

As part of the international family of companies that comprise the ECONET, Univera has access to more than 100,000 square feet of state-of-the-art research facilities between South Korea and the U.S. In fact, Univera has more combined research space, more scientists, more published studies, patents and publications than any other natural products company. They also have 140,000 acres of primal forest and about 15,000 acres of other land under cultivation. Nowhere else on earth is anyone devoting the massive resources and talent at cracking the code of the aging process to produce a new generation of unique and exclusive wellness and healthy aging products.

Univera starts with the highest quality raw materials from their farms and forests around the world. They then test the ingredients and formulas at the DNA level – a process called Genomics. No other natural products company uses full scale Genomics to test its products. Finally they complete the chain of bringing those products from farm to family to your door by using state of the art manufacturing techniques and equipment.

Your body’s ability to repair, rebuild and regenerate 300 billion new cells daily is a function of three important factors – Raw Materials, Energy and Renewal Signals. From birth to 25, Raw Materials are the necessary building blocks that are available in the product called Ageless Essentials. From 25 to 35 your Energy level drops and some basic functions begin to cut corners, so Univera has developed AgelessXtra. After 35, your body loses its ability to produce Renewal Signals, but those signals can be turned back on through the use of Ageless Prime. Univera has developed unique, proprietary formulas and products (Ageless Essentials, AgelessXtra, Ageless Prime) to address the root causes of aging during the three phases of the aging lifecycle.

I will never tell anyone that this is an easy path to follow. There are pitfalls around every corner and most importantly it takes action on your part. And not just a day or two, not even a couple of weeks or a month. What we have to understand is that this is about a lifestyle change, but the payoff is beyond anything imaginable. We are now discussing a life full of vital energy that can fuel all of your dreams, plans and passions. Further more with the extended quality of life chances are that you don’t have nearly enough goals to fill a life time as we now know it. The choice is yours to make. What will you do?

Longevity and Age Defiance Through Proper Nutrition

Man will age with time-this is an inevitable part of life. Yet many still hope that using creams on their faces or ingesting the right kinds of food would turn back time (at least for a few years!). There are many foods which promote longevity and healthy aging. There is no magic involved and you would be surprised that most of these foods are readily available at the local supermarket.

Olive Oil

This oil has been around for centuries as the Greeks in Crete have consumed this particular oil for centuries. There have been hundreds of studies that would confirm that olive oil has many health benefits. People who use olive oil in cooking or making dishes have lower rates of heart disease as compared to people who consume a different kind of oil. Olive oil is specifically rich in mono-saturated fats and polyphenols. These protect the human body from heart illnesses and other heart-related problems.

Fish

If you are conscious about aging, then you have to make sure that fish is a part of your diet. Fish promotes a healthy heart because it has a high content of omega 3 fats. These fats prevent the build up of cholesterol as well as prevent the occurrence of an abnormal heart rhythm. Many people who are fond of eating fish are observed to be safe from numerous heart illnesses. In fact, native Inuits who are people from Alaska (whose regular diet is mostly fish), have managed to steer clear of heart diseases.

Blueberry

Another age healthy food is the blueberry. Blueberries are known to be good at maintaining healthy balance and concentration as people age. This berry is also capable of reducing inflammation and oxidation damage (this occurrence is associated with age-related memory deficits and also reduction of motor function).

This means that a person who eats a lot of blueberries would have an improved and healthy memory, has good coordination, and has many more characteristics that are often associated with the younger generations.

High Fibre Foods

Having a well-balanced nutrition is tantamount to having a healthy digestive system. Fibre does much in promoting a healthy digestive system and also a person’s overall health.

There are many vegetables and fruits that are high in fibre. To name a few, these are: mangoes, avocadoes, carrots, beans, apples, citrus fruits, whole grain cereals, nuts, and many more. Before buying any food from the supermarket, make sure that you read the label and that the contents include at least one of the fibrous foods.

Food is a vital part of nutrition and that is why it is important to look for foods that are high in fibre since fibre takes care of sweeping your body’s toxins out of your system.

Recommendation

Older people suffer from conditions such as constipation or incontinence, memory gap, and being less agile. Eating all the age-defying foods that were mentioned would not only make you younger, but they would make you feel younger also.

If you don’t get enough fruits and vegetables, then it’s time to make a change. People who suffer from many illnesses are those who do not have a healthy diet-this is common knowledge yet many still do not give heed.

If your time is what makes you grab instant food, then you can still load up on fibres and other nutrients by eating fruits and power bars instead. Grabbing an apple is much easier than heating up an instant meal in your microwave oven! Keep a chart of foods that are easy to buy and prepare. Before you know it, your eating habits have changed for the better.

Healthy Facts of Walking

The best time to walk is early morning which, in addition to being invigorating, enables you to enjoy the freshness of the air, Natures’ sounds of the coming day and of course you know that you will not be sharing it with too many other folks – so a good time to think and make plans for your day.

Everybody knows that it’s much easier to start a new hobby alongside someone else. As walking requires no equipment, location or specific fitness level, finding a walking partner can be relatively simple. Many people also find that joining a walking club compels them to take part in local walks with others on a regular basis.

You could start with 2-minutes of walking at very brisk pace (about 3.5 – 4.5 miles per hour) or jogging. The purpose of this is to get your heart rate up (to a point where you breath hard but could still hold a conversation).

Over 65% of adults 20 years or older can be classified as obese. Additionally, 17% of adolescents of ages 12-19 years are overweight and 19% of children age 6-11 years. Obesity is and will continue to be a serious problem in the future. In fact, it is predicted that obesity will reach epidemic levels by the year 2020.

Of course, fitness is key to healthy aging but that does not mean you should aim to become a professional bodybuilder in your 50s. In fact, the key to healthy aging is to accept that there are certain things you were able to do when you were 30 that you can no longer do at 40. Luckily, you do not have to do them in order to continue growing your muscle mass and even more moderate forms of fitness exercise can go a long way toward aging gracefully and healthfully.

Nutrition and exercise, or at the very least an active lifestyle, complement each other. They form an optimum physical life. This life will encompass not only a quality life, but also a longer life (quantity.) Longevity is a plus. I frequently tell people that I don’t eat nutritious foods and lift weights for long life, but for a quality life. It just happens to be a fact borne out by many studies that exercise will add hours to your physical life.

When you walk, you will help reduce stress and loosen your muscles. By eliminating these things, you will notice that you can even sleep better. In the morning you will feel much better because you are more rested. So when you exercise, you get a good night sleep, which boost your metabolism. Without the right amount of sleep, our bodies will always crave energy.

Whether you’ve got a full 40 years to save and plan, or if retirement is just a few years down the road and you’re worried that it may be a little late to start any radical pension planning, this three part retirement planning roadmap should save you time, remove your reluctance and cover the three key aspects of retirement planning – namely our physical wellbeing, our financial wellbeing and our spiritual wellbeing in retirement.

Best Treatments for Aging Skin: Taking Off the Years

It has probably been said a hundred times in every article pertaining to the best treatments for aging skin that the sun is the primary enemy to consider when it comes to early wrinkles and age spots. In order to avoid these early signs of years on our skin, one should start taking action as early as possible.

Anti aging skin care is just about the best step to think about on how to have healthy aging skin. The use of gentle cleansers to wash the face daily could get rid of the harmful chemicals or foreign objects that might have come in contact to our skin.

Our skins ability to absorb moisture decreases as we become older, thus it is best to include in our daily skin care moisturizers that help smoothen our skin and prevent it from losing too much hydration. Our neck suffers the harshness of aging as much as any part of our body that is most exposed to the sun does, therefore, it would be wise to include moisturizing the neck down to the cleavage area as skin sagging is most seen on that part.

Dull skin is just as awful as having wrinkles; exfoliation helps get rid of dead skin cells and any skin irregularities and provides in turn a young and glowing skin. Exfoliation on a weekly basis helps bring out that radiant skin that has always been associated with youth.

Lessons on how to have healthy aging skin is as easy as learning the alphabet, it only needs to be religiously adhered to so as to see the glorifying results. Another way of staying young-looking is to eat nutritious foods such as berries.

These fruits provide the body with antioxidants that protects the skin from being oxidized which would eventually leads to the inevitable signs of skin aging. Tuna and other fishes that offer omega-3 is also recommended on the diet because not only is it good for the heart but also for the skin cells that benefit by regeneration.

Most signs of aging are fought with drastic measures such as those of dermabrasion, carbon dioxide laser treatment, deep skin peeling chemicals, and botox injections. Although, these methods are known to work, it is still too expensive to even consider.

The structural breakdown that inexorably happens to the skin with the passage of time can also be prevented and treated in non-surgical manner. How to have healthy aging skin from skin care products lies on the very ingredients that make up the whole formulation.

Collagen renewal is available in the form of cynergy TK; this stimulates the growth of collagen inside the body instead of the usual collagen-containing products that promises to effect younger and suppler skin. Coenzyme Q10 being a powerful antioxidant prevents harm from reaching the cells, because these act as protective barriers on the cells which prevents it from being oxidized by harmful chemicals.

The best treatments for aging skin also include phytessence wakame that prevents the breakdown of supporting tissues on the skin which in turn compromises the integrity of the skin. These ingredients compose those products that would truly benefit the skin from the ravages aging.
