normally i don’t like biographies, but there are two that are an exception: boy by roald dahl and naked by david sedaris. they are both so charming and realistic and heart-warming and i seriously recommend them. :]
“A Chainless Soul – Life of Emily Bronte,” by Katherine Frank…easily the very best biography I’ve ever read. I’ve re-read it a dozen times…a heady mix of wonderful writing and brilliant scholarship.

Galileo’s Daughter by Dava Sobel is excellent.
Adolph Hitler by John Tobler is also excellent (but a pretty long read).
Currently reading Team of Rivals (about Lincoln) by Doris Goodin. It is pretty danm good so far.
